About
Founded 1999
Founded in 1999 by a group of experienced civil rights advocates, Advancement Project is dedicated to advancing racial justice through policy initiatives, strategic communications, and legal action. Our organization aims to cultivate impactful community-driven solutions informed by rigorous legal analysis and public education efforts that echo the transformative victories of past civil rights movements. From the very beginning, we have collaborated closely with communities of color on the ground level to challenge and reform unfair policies that jeopardize democratic ideals. We actively seek out opportunities to amplify this approach within networks comprising organizers, legal experts, policymakers, and philanthropic partners. Our mission centers on nurturing innovative ideas and pioneering practices designed to galvanize a robust national movement for racial justice—working towards universal opportunity and an equitable democracy for all!
