At Ampersand Law, we believe in a straightforward approach to offering legal services tailored to estate planning and small business needs for individuals like you. Led by Attorney Heather Hazelwood, our boutique firm is located in Durham, North Carolina. We provide comprehensive estate planning support that includes full representation as well as flexible unbundled services and even an estate plan refresh. For entrepreneurs, we assist with LLC or corporation formation according to North Carolina regulations, conduct "Open for Business" evaluations, and draft agreements for independent contractors and subcontractors. Heather Hazelwood serves as the managing partner of Ampersand Law; she earned her JD from the University of Wisconsin Law School along with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology & Women's Studies from UW-Madison. Before establishing Ampersand Law, she gained valuable experience at the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services as well as Hurley Burish & Stanton S.C. Beyond her professional commitments, Heather actively contributes to several community organizations including the Westmorland Neighborhood Association and Friends of Waisman Center Board; she also started Together We Will North Carolina—her own nonprofit initiative—and participates on Durham County's Board of Elections alongside other volunteer efforts such as Stamp NC Blue.
