Founded in 1888, the Atlanta Bar Association has been a cornerstone for Atlanta's legal professionals and the broader community. Our core mission is to enhance professionalism and ensure fair access to justice while providing programs and resources tailored for our diverse membership base. With over 6,300 members representing various backgrounds across twelve counties in metro Atlanta—including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton,Gwinnett,HENRY ,Paulding ,and Rockdale—we pride ourselves on being the largest voluntary bar association in the Southeastern United States. Our dynamic organization has built a strong national reputation through innovative programming continually exploring new avenues of support. We strive to advocate for our profession by fostering a collaborative environment and equipping members with essential tools for their everyday legal practices.
Highlighted are some key aspects of our offerings: we feature 21 specialized sections catering to specific areas such as Young Lawyers (under age 36 or within their initial three years of practice), Bankruptcy Law; Business & Finance Law; Criminal Defense; Family Law; Intellectual Property Law among others—ensuring that every member finds relevant engagement opportunities . Additionally,the Association organizes numerous committees and task forces where members can take up leadership roles across multiple Boards including those pertaining to advocacy initiatives like Continuing Legal Education (CLE)and Lawyer Referral Services.
