About

Founded 2009

Established in April 2009, the National Security Law Brief (NSLB) at American University is a pioneering student-led law publication dedicated to exploring the dynamic landscape of national security law. This biannual print magazine, which also features an online platform, focuses on analyzing the legal aspects of U.S. national security policies and regulations. Covering traditional issues like counterterrorism and nuclear nonproliferation alongside contemporary challenges such as soft power and cybersecurity, NSLB provides a comprehensive examination of these critical fields. The first issue was published in Summer 2010, showcasing insightful articles from leading scholars and practitioners along with analytical contributions from students at American University's Washington College of Law. With an openness to diverse perspectives on national security matters, we invite submissions from students, educators, and professionals alike. Positioned in Washington D.C., our publication aims to be a vibrant forum for innovative discussions surrounding national security law as we foster connections with the broader legal community.
