Mr. Liebenguth is an expert in representing military personnel who are confronted with court martial, non-judicial punishment (NJP), administrative actions, and criminal appeals related to serious charges such as rape, sexual assault, fraud, drug crimes, violent offenses, and various other military-related issues. With a solid background as a retired Judge Advocate for the Marine Corps and former member of the United States Coast Guard, he brings extensive legal experience to his practice. His educational journey includes degrees from Amherst College and Emory University School of Law along with a Master’s Degree in Military Studies from the Marine Corps University Resident Command & Staff College.
During his service from 2006-2007 with the 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Marines in Haditha Iraq—whose story is highlighted in "The Warriors of Anbar"—he gained first-hand combat insight that enhances his legal expertise. Following this deployment, Mr. Liebenguth held roles at the Pentagon and instructed on military law at the United States Naval Academy while also being invited to share insights at criminal law conferences across California and Washington D.C.
His comprehensive career spans numerous high-profile cases within military justice; he has served both as defense counsel—which includes appellate defense—and prosecutor alongside roles as Special Assistant United States Attorney. Notably successful during his time arguing before appellate courts for armed forces members’ rights–securing oral arguments for an impressive total of 17 cases–his accomplishments earned him recognition through accolades like “Silver C.A.A.F Tongue.” Mr. Liebenguth's litigation experience covers severe felony allegations encompassing murder attempts to child endangerment among other grave delineations within military context.
