About
Founded 1985
The Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (LACDL) stands out as the singular professional group dedicated entirely to the field of criminal defense. Established in 2010 through a merger with the Louisiana Public Defenders Association, LACDL was founded with a shared mission: to uphold and safeguard the Right to Counsel, enshrined by our nation's founders within both federal and state law. Our goal is centered on fostering an equitable, precise, and compassionate criminal justice system via education, advocacy efforts, and cultivating skilled legal defenders.
Our Objectives:
- To uphold individual rights guaranteed under both Louisiana State Constitution and Federal law during criminal proceedings.
- To defend against any measures that threaten these essential rights.
- To foster collaboration among attorneys committed to advancing these goals through educational initiatives and supportive resources; thus enhancing justice for all.
- To support courts, legislative bodies, and law enforcement agencies in fulfilling their roles while adhering scrupulously to laws aimed at protecting individual liberties as outlined by our constitutions.
