You might be wondering if websites like LawyerRatingz.com are allowed to do what they do. Is it okay for companies or the public to put up lawyer profiles?

What happens if the lawyer wants their profile taken down? We have gone through “Lawyer Ratingz” explanation of their business model, and we will discuss it below.

We have also done our own research and have come to our own conclusions. Make sure to do your own research about the information you find online when deciding to rely on it or not.

First of all, we believe that companies and individuals have a right to information about which lawyers or attorneys are good, and which are bad. So we support the company’s mission.

Is Lawyer Ratingz a successful website?

They have a domain authority of 54. This is very high. This means that if the company publishes a profile about a lawyer, it will likely show up in a top position on Google or Bing. If they write about “Steve Smith lawyer,” someone will be able to easily find it via an internet search.

Despite having a high domain authority score, the website doesn’t seem to have a lot of traffic. The website is only ranked #653,530 on Alexa’s (Amazon) web-traffic service. We thought the website would be in the top 150,000 global websites.

We also looked up ratings about the company. On the website Trustpilot, there were six reviews of LawyerRatingz.com. The average score was 2.3.

One of the reviews didn’t make sense as it was about a judge in Baltimore City. The others seemed to complain that LawyerRatingz.com had removed negative reviews that were posted about certain lawyers.

Is LawyerRatingz.com Legit? Let’s Check The Reviews

We must admit that since ClearWay Law started our own lawyer rating service, our Google Review score went from 4.9 down to about 4 stars. A lot of lawyers (instead of the public) left 1-star reviews since we wouldn’t take down bad reviews about the lawyers on our site.

It seems that lawyer review websites get bad reviews regardless of if they take down reviews or not. Therefore, we don’t give the Lawyer Ratingz 2.3 star review on Trustpilot any weight.

We also decided to look at other lawyer website policies. Instead of writing about that here, you should read our article on it. We will add them below as we right them. If you can, look at the lawyer’s reviews on various websites.

Where does LawyerRatingz.com operate?

The company operates in Canada and the United States. They might operate in other places as well, we couldn’t find any information.

It seems they are mostly popular in Canada.

What Are The Websites Policies?

We were going to write about the website’s policies, but it appears their website is down. We can’t get it to work. Either they are out of business, or they are currently having server issues.

We will check back at a later date and write this section of our analysis.

Update- the FAQ section is now working again.

We like that the purpose of the website is to share information about lawyers. That is something that we care about at Clearway as well. You can see .

They also mention that it’s very hard for them to verify lawyer reviews. They prefer that the public only leave reviews for lawyers they have worked with. But they admit this isn’t possible for them to verify.

Accurate online reviews

One thing we don’t like is that the reviews are posted right away without them checking. At our review service, we always read the reviews before they go live. We reject many spam reviews each day. We also reject reviews that are obviously just meant to cause harm to the lawyer.

If someone says a lawyer is a “molester and child rapist,” we are not going to publish this without proof.

They say that there are more positive reviews than negative ones on their website. If this is true, it’s hard to believe. But it might still be true, there’s no way to check. Many people seem to use Lawyer Ratingz to vent about their lawyers. We checked about five lawyer profiles, and they were mostly negative reviews.

We love that they are honest about getting hate emails from some lawyers, and fan emails from the public. Clearway has noticed from our own experience that about 80% of people that contact us love our review service, and 20% hate it.

But we have also noticed that many of the 20% have received 1-star reviews, or have got in trouble with the . If they haven’t gotten in trouble already, they are concerned about getting in trouble and then getting one-star reviews on our website.

Is LawyerRatingz.com Legit? FAQ

We saw in the FAQ that LawyerRatingz will remove reviews, and it seems that they do this often. Much of the negative feedback about the company seemed to come from them removing reviews about lawyers. Of course, it’s their website, so it’s their choice.

The company has taken a hard position and won’t remove lawyer profiles. This makes sense. Because if a lawyer gets a few bad reviews, then they won’t want to have a profile.

Also, if the lawyer is doing dishonest things, but hasn’t received a bad review yet, they will still want their profile taken down.

If only good lawyers are on LawyerRatingz.com, then it’s not a useful service for the public.

Are The Lawyer Profiles Useful?

Any information that the public can find about lawyers is useful and makes a big difference.

We didn’t think the scoring system for the lawyers was well done. It just seems to be a score from the lawyer ratings. Companies like Avvo have a lot more to their scoring system. However, LawyerRatingz is useful to read reviews about lawyers.

We like that they restrict reviewing certain lawyers during certain periods. If a negative story comes out in the media about a lawyer, they can restrict reviews for a certain period of time. This will lead to more reliable ratings. Instead of the general public just bashing the lawyer.

We thought their comment about being able to be sued for anything in the United States was funny. It’s so true. That’s why we decided to focus on Canada, China, and Australia for now.

Afraid to leave reviews for lawyers

They provide useful resources for those that might get sued for using their service to leave reviews. We have found that a lot of people are afraid to leave reviews for lawyers on our service as well.

We will have to put in the effort to convince the public that we will never provide their IP address to the lawyers. People must feel comfortable leaving reviews.

Our company and server are located outside of the places where we operate. You can read about how we .

In conclusion, the LawyerRatingz website has been an icebreaker in the legal market. While it has made a huge impact, we are not sure why its web traffic is so low. We also weren’t able to find out how they make money. It’s possible that the website is just a hobby for its creator.
