Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Carol pursued journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill before honing her writing skills as an editor for a Virginia newspaper. She later moved to Washington D.C., taking on the role of staff assistant for a U.S. Senator which further ignited her passion for public service law. Determined to advance her legal education while balancing full-time work commitments; she enrolled at N.C Central University's School of Law night program—and earned licensure shortly after graduating in 1991.
