About
Founded 1934
Founded by Harry Berke, who began his legal career in 1934, the firm has a rich legacy within the Plaintiffs’ bar. Known for advocating on behalf of those injured due to others' negligence or fault, Harry pioneered numerous innovative legal strategies and theories throughout his tenure. His significant contributions led to landmark decisions in Tennessee's Appellate Courts that significantly advanced protections for injured individuals. Moreover, he was instrumental in litigating varied cases across multiple domains—including aviation and electrical injury law—that shaped new precedents.
In 1961, Harry welcomed his son Marvin B. Berke into practice; together they notably represented Jimmy Hoffa during a high-profile criminal trial while Hoffa served as the President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union. The firm remained committed to establishing progressive reforms within personal injury law during this era.
As their team expanded with Ronald J. Berke—another son—and later Andy Berke joining them in 1994, their pursuit of justice continued unabated through various groundbreaking cases that yielded substantial jury verdicts and settlements for clients ranging from $8 million secured from a bus accident lawsuit to nearly $1 million resolved in various other matters—including amounts reaching $6 million after a gas explosion incident and approximately $2 million following another client’s tragic experience linked to an auto accident case valued at roughly $4.75 million among several other noteworthy successes exceeding one-million-dollar settlements achieved by this dedicated team over time.
