About
Founded 1979
Meet Richard Bruce Rosenthal, Esq., a dedicated attorney with degrees from Columbia College (1975) and Brooklyn Law School (1978). He is licensed to practice in New York State as well as various federal districts. With a focus on private general litigation, his expertise spans animal rights advocacy, criminal defense, and consumer protection since 1979. In 2009, he experienced a profound awakening in his legal journey when he intervened to save Lexus—a Greyhound facing execution due merely to instinctual behavior bred into her for generations. This rescue sparked an influx of inquiries from greyhound rescue organizations across the nation seeking counsel for similar situations. Recognizing the need for comprehensive support in this area led him to establish The Lexus Project. His mission evolved further after rescuing a Siberian husky named Luna from death's door amidst notable media attention over her unfortunate actions involving livestock at Tolland, Connecticut—insightfully realizing that true safety lies only when all dogs are defended against unwarranted peril and judgment.
Rosenthal champions what can be seen as civil rights for our canine companions; redefining how companion animals are viewed by law—a changing landscape where dogs now have avenues such as protective orders or trust beneficiaries while advocates emerge relentlessly defending them against unjust treatment within judicial systems where emotional damages claim becomes increasingly recognized.
While acknowledging occasional incidents caused by canine companions leading injuries toward others or animals—the consequence often remains gravely disproportionate with fatal penalties imposed despite declarations of innocence under law—Richard continues tirelessly working towards justice and compassion concerning all canines entangled within challenging circumstances they never asked for.
