About
Founded 1998
The Wisconsin Innocence Project (WIP), affiliated with the University of Wisconsin Law School, stands out as one of the pioneering Innocence Projects initiated within a law school. For over 25 years, it has provided invaluable training to aspiring legal professionals. Throughout its impactful history, WIP has played a crucial role in securing exonerations for more than 30 individuals wrongfully accused and convicted. Under the expert guidance of experienced law professors, students engage directly with clients, conduct thorough investigations into cases, and handle litigation tasks. This hands-on experience not only equips them with practical skills but also instills an essential critical perspective on the criminal justice system while advocating fervently for their clients' rights.
