Are you an attorney thinking about using Lawyers.com? Are you wondering if it’s worth the money you will spend?

Or maybe you are looking for a law firm, and you are wondering if the reviews are fake and if it’s legit.

We will answer these questions in this article. Also, make sure to check out our other reviews on Avvo and Lawyer Ratingz. There are several different options in the United States for lead generation.

We spent days doing as much research on Lawyers.com figuring out as much as we could. Look at the sub-topics below, and read the parts you are interested in.

Is It Legit?

We saw that a lot of people were wondering if Lawyers.com was fake or legit. We are not sure how a could be fake. It is what it is.

We think the real question people are asking is if it’s worth the money.

The main point of the website is to connect the public with attorneys who can answer their legal questions. So if you are an attorney, you will be interested in seeing what products Lawyers.com sells.

Once you sign up for Lawyers.com, you are given a log-in for its website. You can then go in there and fill out your profile.

You can also see how many phone calls and leads you get. It’s also possible to see how many people went from your profile to your website. This is only for the paid account option.

Our company built out our lawyer directory as nothing like it existed outside of the USA.

You can see how they get traffic on their website below. 85% of it comes from organic search, mostly Google.

Only 2.23% of their traffic comes from paid ads. Referrals are links to other websites. And direct is when someone just enters the URL into their browser.

It’s amazing how low the traffic from social media traffic is.

Lawyers.com Services

Attorney Directory- This is where all the lawyers are listed. You can see the picture below. You can see you can pick something like wrongful death, and then pick your city, like New York. Pretty simple to use.

Attorney Reviews- This is where the public can leave reviews for the attorneys in the directory. The reviews go from one to five stars.

Law Articles By The Website- These are the blogs that Lawyers.com posts. As you can see below, the website writes articles, but it’s not written by attorneys. I find the “legal guidance” to be of generally low quality. I assume readers can tell this is not written by practising lawyers and will place little value in it – and perhaps bring the site itself into “disrepute.”

Always a struggle to find the right balance between legalese and everyday speech. They talk about divorce, employee benefits, and criminal defence.

Q+A Questions- The public can leave questions, and real attorneys will answer them.

Law Articles From Attorneys- These are blogs that attorneys answer, instead of Lawyer.com. This is the best place to look for information.

At a minimum, you should try and get involved with the Q+A questions and the law articles. You can contribute and try and get clients that way.

The website has around 1.4M visitors per month. That’s good.

Is Lawyers.com Free?

As with most companies, you can do basic things for free, but the real value is in paying money. The cost per click on Lawyers.com comes in at around $50. It’s around the same cost as Facebook leads.

This is much cheaper than Google Ads, which is normally around $100/lead, depending on your city.

If you are in a small town of 10,000 people, you might not have to spend as much money as a law firm. If you are in a city of over 10,000, you will have to spend.

When you are in a city with a professional sports team, you will have to spend a lot on . Think of marketing as paying rent. You will have to pay $7000/month.

Lawyers.com ranks in the top positions for a lot of legal keywords (SEO), so they have the power to demand money from attorneys.

The cost to advertise is a bit confusing. But basically, you can test things out starting at $221/month. It depends on the city and legal practice area.

Sign up for a few months in your city and practice area, and then see if you get good leads. It’s possible that a “personal injury attorney” might be more expensive than others. Houston, TX could also be more expensive than other areas of law.

Who Owns The Website?

The lawyer directory was created in 2004. It is now part of the Martindale-Hubbell group. The website is owned by Internet Brands.

Internet Brands is a very large company. It does around 1.6 billion in revenue in USD. It owns various internet companies in the car, home, medical, law, and media industries. Since this is a law blog, we will focus on their legal products.

Its legal brands focus on selling to law firms. Some help law firms are more efficient, and others help attorneys find more clients.

Its brands that help attorneys find more customers include Avvo, Nolo, Lawyers.com, and AllLaw.

Its companies that help law firms be more efficient include Martindale-Avvo, Martindale Hubbell, Total Attorneys, Ngage Live Chat, and Captorra.

Almost all of its web traffic comes from the United States. It’s unclear why the website hasn’t been popular in Canada.

How Does Lawyers.com Work?

All the websites together get around 25,000,000 visitors per month. In a different part of the website, it says that they have 15,000,000 visitors each month. So that’s not very clear.

Lawyers.com has over one million lawyers in its database. It lists lawyers, and then people find the website via an internet search.

For example, they might list “Matt Smith,” a criminal lawyer in San Diego. If someone searches for “Matt Smith attorney,” the Lawyers.com listing will likely show up in the top positions.

The lawyers are in Canada and the United States. The website doesn’t seem to be very popular in Canada but is so in the United States.

Almost all attorneys in the US are on the website (95%.)

People can search for a lawyer’s name, like “Joe Smith,” or they can look for a lawyer by city or practice area, like “immigration lawyer in Blaine Washington.”

The website also has a very popular law blog, that puts out a ton of information.

Lawyers.com seems to focus on the most common areas of law. These include divorce law, insolvency, criminal law, and tax law.

Lawyers.com Worth The Money?

Despite having 95% of attorneys in the United States on the website, it seems to focus on the most populated states. These include California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Illinois.

On the Canadian side, the website focuses on Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto. For the areas of law, it’s corporate law, separation, estate law, and personal injury.

It doesn’t seem that Lawyers.com focused on creating much Canadian-specific content. I believe they just scraped lawyers from the Law Society website and then listed it on their website.

If we are wrong, feel free to reach out and let us know.

In conclusion, if you are not into your website to build out your SEO, you will need to use another website.

I recommend trying Lawyers.com, Avvo, Google Ads, and Facebook Ads to see what works best for you.
