His tenure on the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta spanned an impressive 28 years, marking a career rich in judicial service. Before his judicial appointment, he notably served Vegreville, Alberta, as its mayor for three terms and has a distinguished background as an accomplished pilot.

Justice Moshansky's most renowned contribution came when he led the Dryden commission of inquiry. This investigation delved into the tragic events surrounding the 1989 crash of Air Ontario Flight 1363. The findings from this thorough inquiry prompted groundbreaking adjustments in aircraft de-icing protocols by Transport Canada, significantly enhancing aviation safety standards and protecting numerous lives in the process. His pivotal role in this investigation earned him the esteemed Transport Canada Aviation Safety Award.

In recognition of his substantial contributions to both the legal and aviation sectors, Justice Moshansky was honored with the Order of Canada in 2005. This prestigious award, ranking as the second highest in the nation, celebrates individuals who have made significant, lifelong contributions that have made a major impact across Canada.
