We are planning a trip through Alaska in our small motor home and towing a small car. Our plan is to take the ferry from Bellingham to Haines then overland to Tok. On our return we would drive through Canada to the US, two border crossings. Also, an old friend from Washington state would accompany us the first portion of the trip. Our Motorhome is registered in Montana in a LLC, our car is registered in Texas. We would like to take a Stevens 12 ga. Mod 320 field grade sport, a very inexpensive shotgun, 18.5 inch barrel and possibly Rossi 22mag pump rifle. We plan on following the letter of the law with the forms, etc. We are hearing horror stories of crossing the border. A friend is a retired US Customs agent and said he would not risk the crossing. That the Canadian agents can be very abusive to Texans. Also stories of gas tanks being cut in half and all the cushions being sliced open. P and I are retired airline personnel. She was a flight attendant for 36 years with Delta and I was a Captain with Continental for 26 years. We both flew into Canada many times. We would appreciate your thought thoughts on our concerns. Thank you

Hi Ian In 1987 I inherited a knife which was once my grandfather’s. Thanks to your videos I have discovered that it may be a restricted weapon. For some years I have struggled with “what do I do now”. I would appreciate some comment regarding what are my legal options.

Hello Ian, I'm looking to have a consultation with you regarding a new business within the firearm industry. It's a new concept and need to verify legality of such. Thanks!

I watch video today on self-defence. I think everybody should watch this video and I appreciate Your videos as well. This link Video of the most realistic, self-defence and pros and cons, especially the knife fighting part. The level of experience and the level of cuts were mind blowing. It trumps any martial artist. And anybody who can’t see it is delusional I worked in an extremely violent bar security for over 10 years axes knives bottles everything but the kitchen sink thrown at me, personally have 15 years of different levels of martial arts and MMA. I was injured many times luckily superficial.

It's my understanding she has already had the police over to the house and that they are looking for me. I am terrified to go home and deal with this. I have done everything I can over the last 15 years to turn my life around including re-educating, getting a new career as a heavy equipment operator, aquire my PAL(non restricted, restricted), joined a club(Chas), and surrounded myself with successful people who have been a huge influence in mentoring me to be the best version of me as I can be. I have been nothing but honest since undergoing this journey as I know any dishonesty would destroy any relationships I have built with these people over the years. I honestly do not know what to do but have seen you on YouTube about these things and felt I needed to reach out to get your input. Could you PLEASE reach out to me to discuss this matter. I can't go home without legal advice.

Just watching your video on the berna home defense tool. I'm not commenting on your critique. Because I don't own a berna. It's a very weak tool./ marker. I just wanted to mention that in Canada these tools aswell as bb and pellet airguns must comply with a 2 hurdle requirement in order to require a pal. 1. 500 fps and 5.7 joul e limit. But both limits must be reached. Meaning. A 1000 fps is not wanting if a PAL if under 5.7 joules of energy. Here's the home protection part which is legal. By law. A marker/ tool/ paintball or air bb / pellet pistol or rifle CO2 or hpa whatever if under 500 fps is not under any restrictions for FPE/ power. Meaning @ 450 fps and producing more that 250 joules which if extremely capable of home protection is 100 percent legal anda PAL is definitely not required. Just been the the courts on this. But I will agree the burna is a complete toy compared to what we can legally own and keep fully loaded by our bedside with our any permitting required.

I live in Okotoks AB. I have a firearms license. 12(6) I own a few firearms. One is an assault rifle I bought in 80 something. I registered it in 2002. The registry says, rifle semi auto, no restrictions. I recently got an e-mail in my Junk folder from the RCMP. It look legitimate. It's telling me i owned that rifle illegally, according to the 1998 prohibition of this firearm, and gives me option to get ride of it without compensation. I also own a registered prohibited hand gun, and a few huntings firearms. At this point I only care about not loosing my hunting firearms. I want to talk with you first. If you don't have the time, can you recommend someone in Calgay ? I work up north and will be driving down on the 10 of December. I can come see you then if it works for you. Please let me know. Thank you for your time.

Hi Ian, I find your YouTube videos very informative. I have a recent update concerning Canada Customs. I tried to purchase a Esee 4 fixed blade Hunting knife from knifeworks in the USA April 13 2025. On there website they ship to almost every country in the world Except Canada! I thought it could be because of Trumps Tarrifs, but no. I sent an email complaint. They responded by telling me Canada Customs is confiscating all knives (Folders or fixed blades) they ship to Canada and calling them Weapons! Knifeworks has suspended all knife shipments to canada! I can forward the email from knifeworks if needed! Very sad what's happening with this Criminal Liberal Government! Keep up the good work!
