Jordan Deering

Jordan excels in guiding companies through the complexities of serious misconduct, leveraging her expertise to carry out in-depth investigations and manage legal actions that adhere to regulatory standards while minimizing risk. With a hands-on approach, she collaborates with corporate leaders to understand their unique challenges, assess potential risks, and devise strategic plans to ensure legal compliance and safeguard their reputation.

Holding the position of Canadian Chair for the Corporate Crime, Compliance, and Investigations Group at DLA Piper (Canada) LLP, Jordan's 20 years in the field span litigation, regulatory affairs, and a wide array of corporate crimes, including fraud and corruption. Her work often entails reporting findings directly to top-tier executives or boards, dealing with matters such as fraud, bribery, asset misappropriation, and other forms of corporate wrongdoing.

Jordan's advisory services include helping organizations comply with the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act, crafting anti-fraud and anti-corruption policies, and setting up whistleblower programs. She's also adept at securing court orders for fraud recovery efforts, such as Anton Piller orders and Mareva injunctions, among others.

Licensed to practice in Alberta since 2002 and Ontario since 2023, Jordan's notable work includes securing a $32M summary judgment on grounds of unjust enrichment. She's a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, where she earned both her LL.B. and a Bachelor of Commerce.

Her recognition includes awards from Lexology and a Gold Medal from the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Jordan also shares her knowledge through publications on online anonymity and legal seminars addressing white-collar crime.

She's quoted in media on leveraging legal tools against online trolls, contributes as a sessional lecturer, and volunteers in the legal community.
