Patrick Roche

Patrick Roche leads the Litigation, Arbitration, and Investigation Department in Calgary, focusing on power, energy, and construction.

With extensive experience in Alberta's electricity sector, Patrick is recognized for his expertise in Power Purchase Arrangements. He has represented clients in force majeure arbitrations since 2005.

Patrick handles complex arbitrations involving electrical generating plants, collaborating with experts in critical plant systems.

He also manages construction disputes, including sour gas pipeline failures and construction delays, along with corporate litigation like shareholder disputes and Securities Act charges.

Patrick has appeared before various commissions, including the Alberta Utilities Commission, and all levels of court in Alberta.

In his notable cases, Patrick led arbitration involving mechanical failure of a generator resulting in a 216-day outage, among others.

Fluent in English and French, Patrick holds an LL.B. from the University of Toronto and a B.A. from Queen's University. He has received recognition from Best Lawyers Canada and The Legal 500 Canada.
