Joel Fairbrother

Joel Fairbrother, a founding partner at Bow River Law LLP, specializes in employment law, labor law, and human rights. He also handles general civil litigation cases with adeptness and skill. With extensive experience representing clients in Alberta, Joel has appeared before various courts and tribunals, demonstrating his prowess even in the Supreme Court of Canada.

Before pursuing law, Joel embarked on a different path. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta, he ventured into the oil sands industry as an apprentice Electrician and later as an Instrumentation Technician. Despite not having prior exposure to the legal profession, Joel's innate curiosity led him to law school at the University of Saskatchewan.

Upon graduating, Joel gained invaluable experience at a national firm and later honed his expertise in employment law at Fieldlaw. Subsequently, he spent five years at a specialized employment law firm before co-founding Bow River Law LLP alongside Sarah Coderre. Joel's journey underscores his passion for the legal field and his unwavering commitment to his clients.

Joel's educational background includes a Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. He actively participates in professional associations such as the Canadian Bar Association and serves as a Caselaw Officer in the Labor & Employment Section for Alberta South. Additionally, Joel is a proud member of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, reflecting his dedication to legal excellence and community engagement.
