Megan Funke

Megan's legal expertise revolves around corporate law, particularly mergers and acquisitions and banking and debt finance matters. She brings a wealth of experience and insight to her practice, catering to the needs of diverse clients across various industries.

Among her notable works is her role in facilitating Baytex Energy's US$1.75 billion debt financing arrangements for its acquisition of Ranger Oil Corporation. Megan played a pivotal role in structuring a comprehensive financing package, including a revolving credit facility, a term loan, and a bridge facility.

Additionally, Megan spearheaded Eddy Smart Home Solutions' C$40.65 million reverse takeover by Aumento Capital VIII Corporation, showcasing her proficiency in navigating complex corporate transactions. She also oversaw Eddy Smart Home Solutions' private placement of up to C$15 million subscription receipts, further demonstrating her adeptness in financing matters.

Furthermore, Megan's involvement in significant acquisitions, such as IFM Investors and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan's C$2.8 billion acquisition of the Canadian district energy operations of Enwave Energy Corporation, underscores her capability to handle high-value transactions with precision and efficiency.

Outside her professional engagements, Megan remains actively involved in the legal community. During her time in law school, she served as a casebook editor and research assistant for the Vice Dean, showcasing her dedication to legal scholarship. Additionally, her role as a secretary for the Environmental Law Students’ Association highlights her commitment to environmental advocacy.

Megan's academic achievements speak to her commitment to excellence. She attained First Class Standing while pursuing her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the same institution.
