Shailaz Dhalla

Shailaz is a seasoned practitioner in regulatory and administrative law, specializing in energy, environmental, public utility, and Indigenous law. With extensive knowledge and experience, she adeptly navigates regulatory processes across various industries.

Representing industry clients, Shailaz appears before regulatory tribunals such as the Alberta Energy Regulator and the National Energy Board. She has also advocated for clients before government agencies and various courts, including the Alberta Court of Appeal.

Her clientele includes prominent players in the natural gas, heavy crude oil production, and oilfield waste management sectors. Shailaz provides comprehensive legal advice on regulatory licensing, environmental assessments, surface rights acquisition, carbon tax implications, public consultation, and agreements with Indigenous groups.

A key aspect of Shailaz's practice is her success in obtaining regulatory approvals without the need for hearings. She also defends industry clients against regulatory objections and handles spills and compliance matters.
