With over two decades in legal practice, Bjorn embarked on his journey after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws in 1995 from the University of Alberta. During his time at law school, he distinguished himself by making it onto the Dean's List.

His legal career kicked off with articling at a prominent criminal law firm in Alberta from 1995 to 1996. In March 2020, Bjorn received the prestigious appointment of King's Counsel by the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General for Alberta. This recognition underscores his profound expertise in immigration law and his exceptional legal prowess. Such an honor is reserved for individuals who exhibit unwavering integrity, trustworthiness, and competence in their legal practice.

Bjorn's courtroom experience spans all levels of Alberta's judicial system, including the Provincial Court, the Court of King's Bench, and the Alberta Court of Appeal. He has honed his skills in crafting compelling legal arguments and presenting cases effectively before the courts.

In 2002, Bjorn transitioned to the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) as a Refugee Protection Officer. During his tenure of approximately three years, he delved deep into administrative law and gained invaluable insights into Canada's refugee determination system. As an IRB representative, Bjorn participated in numerous hearings, developing a nuanced understanding of refugee matters.

Following his stint at the IRB, Bjorn assumed the role of a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) Officer with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in 2005. In this capacity, he served as a quasi-judicial administrative decision-maker, adjudicating PRRA and Humanitarian and Compassionate Grounds applications. Bjorn's expertise in risk assessment and administrative decision-making was instrumental in shaping immigration policies.

As a founding partner of Stewart Sharma Harsanyi, Alberta's largest Immigration Law Firm, Bjorn collaborates closely with his partner, Raj Sharma. Together, they handle a wide array of immigration matters, with a focus on refugee claims, Federal Court litigation, and complex removal cases. Bjorn's extensive experience includes over 35 reported cases with the Federal Court of Canada.

Over the past 15 years, Bjorn has immersed himself in Canada's immigration landscape, navigating its intricate procedures, applications, and legislation. He is deeply committed to providing ethical and intellectual guidance to his clients, believing that every individual deserves top-notch representation and respect.

With a profound understanding of the profound implications of immigration cases, both professionally and personally, Bjorn remains dedicated to securing the best possible outcomes for his clients. He approaches each case with a determination to find winning strategies and uphold the highest standards of legal practice.
