Emily Koch brings a fresh perspective to the legal team at Daunais McKay & Harms, having joined as a Student at Law in the summer of 2018 following her graduation from the Juris Doctor program at the University of Calgary. Throughout her tenure at UCalgary Law, Emily seized numerous opportunities to deepen her understanding of family law matters.
One of Emily's standout experiences was her summer stint as a student with Student Legal Assistance (SLA), where she provided invaluable assistance to low-income clients grappling with various family law challenges such as parenting arrangements, guardianship, and child support. Even after her official term concluded, Emily continued her volunteer work with SLA and also participated in the Emergency Protection Order Project with Pro Bono Students Canada.
Aside from her legal endeavors, Emily remained active in student governance and honed her oral advocacy skills through mooting activities. Notably, she showcased her talents in competitions like the 2017 Gale Cup Moot and achieved recognition as a finalist and semi-finalist in the 2016 and 2017 William McGillivray Moot Shield Competition.
During her leisure time, Emily enjoys hitting the spin studio for a workout, cherishing moments with loved ones, or getting lost in the pages of a captivating book. Her dedication to both legal excellence and personal well-being underscores her commitment to making a positive impact both inside and outside the courtroom.
