Paul is a seasoned Counsel at the firm, maintaining an independent practice. His expertise lies in trusts, asset preservation planning, tax-sensitive estate planning, trustee services, and estate administration.
Born and raised in Calgary, Paul has deep roots in the city as a fifth-generation Calgarian. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa in 1986 and articled with McKimmie Matthews before being called to the Alberta Bar in July 1987.
Following his graduation, Paul honed his skills at Deloitte Haskins Sells in Calgary, specializing in tax compliance and planning. He completed the CICA In-depth Tax Course and later pursued a Master of Law in International Taxation from Regent University in 2001.
Paul's commitment to excellence led to his appointment as Queen's Counsel in 2008. He is an active member of various professional organizations including the Law Society of Alberta, International Fiscal Association, Canadian Tax Foundation, Canadian Bar Association, and the Estate Planning Council of Calgary.
When he's not immersed in legal matters, Paul indulges in his passion for international travel, with Europe, especially France, being his favorite destination. He also enjoys golfing and spending time in the Rocky Mountains, whether it's hiking in the summer or snowshoeing in the winter.
