Teresa's journey into the legal realm began at the University of Saskatchewan, where she distinguished herself by earning her LL.B. with honors in 1997. Her foundational legal training took place at the prestigious Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina, Saskatchewan, setting the stage for a diverse and impactful career. Her move to Calgary in 2000 marked the beginning of a series of notable roles spanning both private practice and key positions within several high-profile public organizations. Her expertise was sought after by the Alberta Securities Commission, the Calgary Health Region, the Calgary Police Service, and Alberta Health Services, showcasing her adaptability and breadth of knowledge across different sectors.

In 2012, Teresa brought her considerable talents to Carbert Waite LLP as a senior associate, where she honed her focus on health and employment law until 2018. Her work, particularly during her tenure with the Calgary Health Region and Alberta Health Services, involved navigating complex litigation matters as well as offering nuanced advice on a broad spectrum of health law issues. These ranged from defending against medical negligence claims to navigating the intricacies of consent to treatment, public health concerns, fatality inquiries, regulatory scrutiny, and the delicate matters of health information and privacy.

Returning to Carbert Waite LLP in 2020 as Counsel, Teresa now dedicates her practice exclusively to health law. She is particularly adept at defending against intricate medical malpractice claims and advising health clients on managing the fallout from adverse events. Her counsel extends to addressing Human Rights complaints, guiding through Fatality Inquiries, and navigating complaints against health professionals to regulatory bodies.
