With a wealth of experience in corporate law, Brent Kraus is a key figure in our firm's Corporate Department. His practice spans public and private mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, shareholder activism, and securities and corporate governance matters.

Brent's expertise extends across various industries, including oil and gas, new energy ventures, natural resources, transportation, and financial services. He has led numerous domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, as well as debt and equity offerings for issuers and underwriters alike.

One of Brent's strengths is his ability to navigate complex transactions, whether contested or friendly. He has managed plans of arrangement, proxy contests, take-over bids, and recapitalizations, often coordinating litigation and regulatory strategies simultaneously.

His dedication to client service has earned him recognition in prestigious publications such as Chambers Canada and The Legal 500 Canada. Peers and clients alike praise Brent for his legal acumen, commercial awareness, and strategic vision.

In addition to his legal practice, Brent plays an active role within the firm, having previously co-headed the Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions practice. He also served on the Partnership Board and currently acts as corporate secretary for several private companies.

Before joining Bennett Jones, Brent gained valuable experience as a law clerk to Mr. Justice J.C. Major at the Supreme Court of Canada.
