Throughout his distinguished career, Ken made a mark in the legal field before retiring from Blakes in December 2023. His expertise spanned several domains, including commercial litigation, regulatory matters, and crafting resolutions through alternative dispute mechanisms. Notably, Ken tackled intricate issues in class actions, construction disputes, and environmental cases, along with intellectual property, insurance, and tax controversies.

Ken's proficiency in obtaining injunctive relief was particularly renowned, especially within the pipeline and energy sectors, where he adeptly navigated numerous claims. His adeptness in both arbitration and mediation underscored his comprehensive approach to dispute resolution.

His contributions to jurisprudence include leading a pivotal Court of Appeal decision addressing the nuances of waiving privileged communications. Ken's strategic acumen was evident in resolving a multifaceted tax dispute, securing over C$70 million in savings for a client. His leadership in one of Alberta's most complex environmental contamination cases further highlights his legal prowess.
