Dean Hutchison

Dean Hutchison is a legal expert specializing in insolvency, restructuring, and commercial litigation. With extensive experience in various insolvency matters such as proposals to creditors, receiverships, foreclosures, and bankruptcies, Dean offers comprehensive legal counsel to financial institutions, secured lenders, and companies in financial distress.

In addition to his insolvency practice, Dean handles commercial litigation involving landlord-tenant disputes, contractual disputes, and real property disputes. He resolves disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and formal court processes.

Dean has appeared before multiple courts in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia, as well as administrative tribunals like the Municipal Government Board and the Human Rights Board.

Prior to joining Caron & Partners LLP, Dean gained valuable experience at large regional and national firms, bringing a wealth of expertise to his current practice. Originally from Northern Alberta, Dean has called Calgary home since 2004, completing his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Alberta.

Outside of his legal career, Dean enjoys outdoor activities like camping and cross-country skiing, indulges in music of various genres, and is an avid sports enthusiast. He also values spending quality time with his family.

Dean has contributed to legal publications and presentations, addressing topics such as assets realization, bankruptcy proposals, and landlord issues. He is an active member of professional associations like the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar Association, and he has volunteered as a soccer coach and pro bono legal counsel for the Canadian Diabetes Association.
