Angela Danko

Angela Danko serves as a key associate at Gowling WLG's Calgary branch, focusing her legal practice on health law, professional liability, and a broad spectrum of commercial litigation. Her journey with Gowling WLG began with summer and articling positions, during which she honed her advocacy skills through representing clients in front of the Alberta Court of Justice and contributing to various civil litigation cases across the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Appeal.

Angela's academic foundation in law was laid at Dalhousie University's Schulich School of Law, where she graduated with her JD in 2019. Her tenure at law school was marked by a deep engagement with the legal community. She supported the Career Development Office, embarked on research with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association focusing on discrimination within the law against those with disabilities and mental health issues, and actively participated in the Dalhousie Student Union Appeals Committee. Her commitment to legal aid saw her volunteer for the Nova Scotia Labour Board, aiding litigants who were representing themselves.

In her final stretch at Dalhousie, Angela's dedication to practical legal education led her to the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic. Here, she not only gained invaluable real-world experience but also advocated for clients in both family and criminal cases at the Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

Before her legal studies, Angela pursued and attained a BA in Psychology, graduating with distinction from the University of Calgary. This period of her academic journey included significant research contributions in the field of psychosocial oncology, laying a strong interdisciplinary foundation for her subsequent legal career.
