Anika Winn

Anika Winn, a diligent associate at Gowling WLG's Calgary office, excels in health law, professional liability, and commercial litigation. Her journey with Gowling WLG began with a summer position and continued through her articling period, during which she also clerked for the Alberta Court of King's Bench. This role provided her with a rich tapestry of experience in handling intricate civil and criminal cases.

Anika's academic achievements are notable; she graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa with a JD, having specialized in health law. Her involvement in academia didn't stop at her studies; she contributed as a teaching assistant for tort law classes to first-year students and interned at the Ottawa Hospital under the General Counsel. Her prowess in health law was recognized when she won the 2019 Canadian Bar Association health law essay competition. Additionally, her mooting skills were showcased on an international stage at the 2020 International Criminal Court Moot Competition, leading her team to win the Americas regional round and secure third place globally.

Before embarking on her legal career, Anika completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours, First Class) at the University of Calgary. Her commitment to health issues extends beyond the classroom, with several published research papers under her belt on topics such as prenatal care and the health care challenges faced by refugees and immigrants.
