Before his ascent at Gowling WLG, which began with his articling in 2014, Taylor laid a solid academic foundation with a Bachelor's degree from the University of British Columbia, where he delved into Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics. His legal journey continued across the Pacific, where he earned a Juris Doctor with honours from Bond University in Queensland, Australia.

Additionally, Taylor has served the legal community through his involvement with the Canadian Bar Association, where he held the role of secretary for the Young Lawyers Section during the 2017-2018 term.
