Chris McLelland, a partner in Cassels' Business Law Group, is a seasoned legal professional with a focus on corporate and commercial law, particularly in the oil & gas and renewable energy sectors. With expertise in domestic and cross-border transactions, Chris handles a wide range of matters including asset and share transactions, commercial agreements, and risk management.

His practice extends to advising both operators and contractors in the procurement of oilfield services, vendor management, and insurance claims related to the oil and gas industry. Chris is also deeply involved in the renewable energy sector, providing counsel on various projects and power purchase agreements.

Chris brings a wealth of experience to the table, having worked on numerous high-profile transactions. Some of his notable work includes representing Base Carbon Corp. in a reverse takeover and listing on the NEO Exchange, as well as acting for Calima Energy Ltd. in a significant plan of arrangement.

Moreover, Chris has been involved in various acquisitions and joint ventures, including advising a Calgary-based oil and gas producer on a $118 million acquisition of assets and representing a foreign conglomerate in a $602 million coalbed methane acquisition and joint venture.
