John's journey into the legal realm began with his J.D. studies at the University of Ottawa. During his third year, he ventured across the pond to the University of Glasgow, immersing himself in UK business law. This diverse educational background equips him with a global perspective that enriches his legal practice.

Before joining Cassels, John articled with another national law firm, where he gained invaluable experience assisting on a myriad of corporate transactions. His hands-on involvement in various deals honed his skills and prepared him for his role at Cassels.

Prior to embarking on his legal career, John earned his Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Finance and International Business from the University of Northern British Columbia. During his undergraduate studies, he contributed to the university as a supplemental instructor in the calculus program, showcasing his passion for education.

Additionally, John gained practical experience at one of Canada's primary financial institutions, further enhancing his understanding of financial matters. His dedication to community involvement led him to work with a First Nation in a remote community in Northern BC, where he assisted with their yearly audit and drafted a new financial policy for the organization.
