Kyra's journey with DBB began in July 2020 when she joined as an articling student, focusing mainly on family law matters. Fast forward to today, Kyra has transitioned into an Associate role within the firm, where her primary focus remains on family law.
Before her time at DBB, Kyra spent 19 months as a bilingual Judicial Clerk at the Court of Queen’s Bench. She brings a wealth of experience, having appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench, and has contributed to cases before the Court of Appeal.
Her academic background is equally impressive. Kyra obtained her Master’s in law (LLM) from University College London (UCL) in 2018, specializing in Criminal Justice, Family, and Social Welfare. She also holds a first-class honours LLB in Law and Criminology from the University of Sheffield, where she actively volunteered with legal clinics and served as a student tutor.
Apart from her professional commitments, Kyra dedicates her time to community service, volunteering with organizations such as the CPLED PREP bar admission course.
Kyra's approach to legal practice is marked by a commitment to resolving issues efficiently and cost-effectively, particularly in family law matters. She also lends her expertise to civil and estate litigation matters, including Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship cases.
Outside of her legal endeavors, Kyra finds joy in playing slo-pitch, exploring new destinations, and dancing to her heart's content.
In navigating mandatory Family Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes in Alberta, Kyra brings her expertise to help parties fulfill court-mandated requirements. Her understanding of the impact of parenting conflicts and family violence underscores her ability to guide parties through the ADR process effectively.
For those seeking legal assistance in family matters, civil litigation, or estate disputes, Kyra's dedication and expertise make her a valuable asset.
