Robert Benson

Robert A. Benson, a Partner at the firm, commenced his journey as an articling student in 1978. Rising through the ranks, he became an associate in 1979 and ascended to the partnership in 1983. Throughout his esteemed career, Robert has specialized in corporate and commercial law, real estate transactions, and wills and estates. However, his expertise extends across various domains including sports, aviation, and non-profit law.

Currently, Robert dedicates his legal acumen to assisting clients in corporate governance matters, contracts, commercial leases, financings, real estate transactions, and wills and estates affairs. His diverse clientele includes privately-held businesses, educational institutions, sports franchises, aircraft leasing companies, non-profit organizations, and professionals. Notably, Robert has served as counsel to the Alberta New Home Warranty Program since 1992, handling intricate construction completion issues, builders’ liens, builder insolvency, and disputes. Moreover, he has been a trusted advisor to the Western Hockey League since 2004, addressing a wide spectrum of legal matters encompassing league governance, expansion, franchise acquisition, and relocation.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Robert actively engages with his community, having served as president, board member, and consultant for several community organizations. While he relishes the occasional round of golf and is a longstanding member of the Crown hockey team, his true joy lies in family. Married to Lorraine, Robert is the proud father of four adult children. Recently, he embarked on a globetrotting adventure with his wife, traversing continents to visit their children residing abroad. With an unwavering spirit of exploration, Robert eagerly anticipates charting new territories with his family in the future.
