Melanie Webber

Melanie embarked on her legal journey at Maurice Law, commencing as an articling student in 2017. After being admitted to the Alberta bar in August 2018, she brought her expertise in aboriginal law, natural resource law, and oil and gas law to the firm.

During her time at the University of Alberta, Melanie was deeply engaged in various extracurricular activities, serving as an executive member of the Environmental Law Student’s Association and co-chairing the Faculty’s Mental Health and Wellness Committee. In 2016, she demonstrated her legal prowess in a national Aboriginal Law Moot, where she tackled the integration of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People into Canada’s legal framework.

Melanie's commitment to community engagement extends beyond her legal practice. She has dedicated her time to serving on the Gala Committee for Woods Homes in Calgary and volunteering with the Pro-Bono Society Students of Canada. Additionally, she contributed to the development of Canada’s first experiential law course on Gladue Report Writing during her tenure at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law.

Melanie's academic achievements include obtaining her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta in 2017, following her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Victoria in 2014. She is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, continuously enriching her legal knowledge and contributing to the legal community.
