Nikolaus specializes primarily in financing, representing numerous lenders, delving into commercial real estate, and spearheading real estate development ventures. Additionally, he extends his expertise to encompass corporate and commercial law, albeit to a lesser degree.
Having completed his legal education at the University of Alberta, Nikolaus commenced his professional journey articling at a prominent Calgary law establishment. Subsequently, he transitioned to a smaller firm, fostering his prowess in solicitor practices. In 1986, Nikolaus ascended to partnership at Wedekind Demiantschuk & Larsen, now recognized as DBH Law.
Beyond his legal endeavors, Nikolaus actively contributes to legal education as a panel member for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and as a lecturer for the Alberta Bar Admission Course. Moreover, he has served on the Board of Directors for several Alberta-based companies and lent his expertise to various volunteer boards.
Embracing his role as the Honourary Consul for the Republic of Austria in Alberta since 2001, Nikolaus diligently nurtures business and social ties. In acknowledgment of his steadfast service to Austria, he was bestowed with the title of Honourary Consul General in 2015.
