Renowned for her outstanding contributions to the legal profession, Rani Wong, K.C. was appointed King’s Counsel in 2022. With over 25 years of experience, she has dedicated her practice to Family Law and Wills and Estates.

Rani's journey in the legal field began after earning her B.A. (Honours) in Economics from Queen’s University in 1993 and completing her joint LL.B. and M.B.A. from the University of British Columbia in 1997. She embarked on her legal career as a corporate and commercial lawyer, practicing in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and even Singapore.

Drawing from her extensive experience, Rani specializes in various aspects of family law, including divorce, separation, cohabitation agreements, and pre-nuptial agreements. She has a particular interest in complex matrimonial property disputes involving high net worth families. Additionally, Rani maintains a thriving wills and estate practice to meet the diverse needs of her clients.

Believing in the value of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), Rani promotes mediation, arbitration, and parenting coordination to resolve family disputes amicably and cost-effectively. However, she acknowledges the necessity of litigation in certain circumstances and works tirelessly to assist her clients in achieving favorable outcomes.

To ensure the best results for her clients, Rani collaborates with a range of experts, including business valuators, forensic investigators, psychologists, and social workers.

Beyond her legal practice, Rani is deeply involved in various professional associations and community initiatives. She has served as President of the Association for Women Lawyers and contributed significantly to its mentoring programs and racialized lawyer initiatives. Rani also volunteers with the Canadian Bar Association, where she has played key roles in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the legal profession.

Furthermore, Rani is an active member of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and serves as a mentor in its mentoring program. She also sits on the Board of Alberta Champions and has contributed to knowledge management initiatives with the Legal Education Society of Alberta.

Rani's dedication to her profession is matched only by her passion for adventure. She has explored all seven continents, undertaking thrilling activities such as summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, kayaking in Antarctica and Alaska, snorkeling with sharks in the Galapagos Islands and Sulawesi, rock climbing in Thailand and France, among other exhilarating adventures.
