Started my own law practice in Edmonton back in 2019. No partners, no big firm name—just me building from the ground up. Five years later, the office serves clients from Sherwood Park to Leduc, and everywhere in between. It's been non-stop. Over 300 files handled across civil, family, immigration, real estate, and estate law. You name it, I’ve probably dealt with it.
Courtrooms aren't glamorous, but they teach you fast. I’ve stood beside clients fighting for parenting time, helped families navigate child welfare investigations, closed home purchases within 24 hours, and drafted wills for people who’d rather be doing anything else. Every file carries weight. There’s no such thing as “just paperwork” when it involves someone's future.
I take Legal Aid cases too. Some of the most intense cases come from there. It's not always easy, but it keeps me grounded. I’ve learned how to explain court procedure to people who’ve never spoken to a lawyer before, and how to manage expectations when emotions are high and timelines are tight.
About 60% of my new clients come from referrals. That didn’t happen overnight. It came from showing up—court dates, signing meetings, late calls—over and over. I also donate time regularly with local nonprofits. I’ve helped newcomers understand their rights, translated legal concepts into plain language, and worked with community leaders to fix access-to-justice gaps that most people never even notice.
If you want someone to notarize a document or swear an affidavit, sure, I do that too. But most people who call are looking for a lawyer who will actually pick up the phone and tell them what’s going on without sugarcoating it. That’s the service I built.
