Shelby delves deep into the legal intricacies of commercial litigation and arbitration, offering her expertise to clients entangled in various disputes. These range from disagreements over contracts to the complexities of class actions, alongside challenges in banking, fraud recovery, and real estate, not to mention the meticulous process of appeals. Her courtroom prowess shines through in British Columbia, where she has championed cases across all judicial levels and lent her expertise to senior colleagues on multifaceted commercial conundrums, including the defense of prominent class actions.

Her legal acumen also extends beyond national borders, having stood as counsel in arbitrations both domestically and internationally. Shelby’s engagement with the legal community is robust, demonstrated by her contributions as a writer and presenter on myriad legal topics. Her leadership skills are apparent in her role as Treasurer for the CBA Class Action Section since 2018, and she plays a pivotal part in nurturing future legal talents through her active participation in the recruitment and training of law students.

A significant milestone in her career was her secondment to a leading national legal team for one of BLG’s key financial clients, further broadening her practical experience. Shelby’s foundational legal journey commenced with a prestigious clerkship for six justices at the Supreme Court of British Columbia, even before her formal induction into BLG as an articling student.

Her academic credentials are equally impressive, holding a JD from the University of Victoria earned in 2014 and a BA with Distinction from Simon Fraser University, achieved in 2011. Shelby’s authorization to practice law in British Columbia since 2016 marks her formal entry into the legal profession.
