Jeffery Shidei

Born to Japanese immigrants in Toronto, Jeff Shidei's journey in law began at York University, Toronto, where he completed his undergraduate studies. His pursuit of legal expertise led him to the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws. Over the span of 13 years, Jeff has honed his skills in private practice in Kamloops, a city that stands on the unceded land of Tk’emlups te Secwepemc. During this period, he has developed a diverse legal portfolio, engaging in civil litigation, resolving property law disputes, navigating municipal law, addressing human rights violations, and advocating in family law and child protection cases.

Jeff's career took a meaningful turn when he relocated to the traditional territory of Lheidli T’enneh. Embracing his new community in and around Prince George, he has dedicated himself to serving the Indigenous communities through both legal and supportive non-legal services. His work is driven by a commitment to the principles and objectives of the BC First Nations Justice Strategy.

In this role, Jeff finds deep fulfillment in contributing positively to the lives of individuals navigating the complexities of the criminal justice and child protection systems. His approach is characterized by a respectful understanding of cultural contexts and an unwavering commitment to achieving just and fair outcomes for the Indigenous community members he serves.
