From her early days before setting foot in law school, Rebecca Darnell built a foundation for her future legal career through diverse professional experiences. Her journey began in the banking sector, leading her to roles as a court recorder and transcriber within the criminal division of the Provincial Court of BC. Her curiosity and drive also saw her freelancing as a paralegal across numerous law firms. Through these roles, Rebecca gained insight into various legal fields, including but not limited to complex commercial litigation, corporate law, family law, personal injury, and estate and real estate transactions.

Her academic pursuit at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law culminated in her graduation in 1994, laying the groundwork for an illustrious career. Her articling period with the Attorney General's Legal Services Branch in Victoria was particularly formative. It was there that she immersed herself in the legislative process, assisting in the drafting and amending of legislation—a rare and invaluable experience.

In 1995, after being called to the British Columbia bar, Rebecca embarked on an entrepreneurial path. She identified a gap in the legal services available in the Fraser Valley, particularly in family law. This realization led her to establish her own law firm, leveraging her comprehensive background and expertise. Her leadership fostered the firm's growth, expanding its offerings to include both solicitor and barrister work.

Rebecca's commitment to resolving disputes amicably led her to specialize further. Certified by the Law Society of British Columbia, she practices as a Family Mediator and Arbitrator. Her current focus on alternative dispute resolution underscores her dedication to finding harmonious solutions. Today, she oversees DLG Darnell Law Group, a thriving practice supported by a dedicated team of lawyers, a student articling, and support staff.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Rebecca is deeply invested in her community. She supports various local organizations and has held board positions with entities like the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia and the Canadian Museum of Flight. Her personal life is equally rich, shared with her two Maltese cross dogs and filled with leisure activities like golfing. Rebecca's mentorship of young athletes in Junior A hockey reflects her commitment to nurturing future leaders across diverse professions.

Her accolades include being named the 2023 George Preston Memorial Business Person of the Year at the Langley Annual Business Excellence Awards. Rebecca's affiliations with professional bodies, including the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of British Columbia, alongside her educational background from the University of British Columbia and Capilano College, highlight her esteemed position in the legal community.
