David stands at the helm of our Business Law and Transactions Group, with his practice deeply rooted in corporate and commercial law. His expertise shines brightest in the realm of middle-market mergers and acquisitions, along with complex commercial transactions. David adeptly steers negotiations and oversees transactions for both buyers and sellers, spanning a diverse array of sectors and valuations.

His prowess is not confined to a single industry; David’s client roster spans the energy and forestry sectors, among other natural resources fields. He’s equally versed in brokering deals within heavy industry, technology, retail, hospitality, and professional services. This broad spectrum of experience allows him to tailor his approach to the unique demands of each sector.

What truly sets David apart is his constructive, collaborative negotiation style. He zeroes in on what's crucial for his clients, navigating transactional waters with a calm and practical demeanor. His leadership ensures that his team propels deals forward, avoiding any roadblocks to success.

Beyond the transactional arena, David lends his expertise to First Nations and industry clients, covering a wide range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. His work encompasses joint ventures, partnerships, and a variety of agreements related to services, supplies, energy, and transportation, showcasing his versatility and depth of knowledge.

Notably, David's life outside the office is just as impressive. An Olympian, his passion for short-track speed skating led him to compete in the Winter Games of 1998 and 2002, marking him as MT+Co.’s resident thrill-seeker.

David's legal career is underpinned by a solid educational foundation. He was called to the Bar in BC in 2007 and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia, where he focused on strategic management and finance. His legal education was completed at McGill University, earning a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Bachelor of Laws with Distinction. His commitment to sharing knowledge is evident in his roles as conference co-chair at the Mini-LLB for Aboriginal Leadership and as a guest lecturer on M&A transactions.
