Joelle Walker

At the helm of MT+Co.'s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, Joelle is a beacon of leadership, particularly in complex civil litigation. Her role sees her defending the interests of both businesses and Indigenous organizations with a blend of tenacity and strategic finesse.

Joelle's legal prowess spans a wide array of corporate, commercial disputes, and regulatory matters. Her experience includes presenting cases across every court level in British Columbia, as well as before the Federal Court of Appeal and administrative bodies like the National Energy Board.

She stands out for her advocacy for Indigenous clients, skillfully handling disputes related to Aboriginal rights and title, governance issues, and the nuances of impact benefit agreement interpretations. Joelle's negotiations with the Crown, industry stakeholders, and regulatory agencies underscore her commitment to representing First Nations' interests. Her hands-on experience with Indigenous legal orders, oral traditional evidence, and traditional Indigenous ecological knowledge further distinguishes her in her field.

Away from her professional commitments, Joelle is an accomplished marathon runner, having completed four marathons and over thirty half-marathons. These days, she channels her energy into the lively pursuit of keeping up with her three young children.

Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 2004 and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Simon Fraser University in 1999. Her dedication to her profession is also reflected in her past role as an Executive member of the Vancouver Bar Association.
