Tyson Lamarsh

Tyson has emerged as a pivotal figure within our Indigenous Law Group, offering comprehensive guidance to Indigenous Nations on a spectrum of crucial issues. His expertise spans governance, participation in projects, community involvement, and the formulation of strategies for rights and title, along with collaborative decision-making.

A significant portion of Tyson's work involves consulting with the leadership of Indigenous Nations and their entities on matters of governance, commerce, rights, title, and project involvements. He is adept at navigating negotiations with both project initiators and governmental bodies, ensuring the interests of Indigenous communities are represented and respected throughout the development and operational phases of projects within their ancestral lands.

Tyson is particularly skilled in tailoring governance frameworks to reflect the unique cultural values and goals of each Nation. His commitment to fostering meaningful community engagement is evident in the time he dedicates to living among the communities he serves. This immersive approach allows him to grasp the concerns and aspirations of community members fully, enabling him to advise more effectively on engagement strategies.

Before embarking on his legal career, Tyson devoted four years to aiding young adults with developmental disabilities, a testament to his enduring commitment to community support, reflected in his ongoing involvement with the Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion.

Outside the realm of law, Tyson is an avid outdoor enthusiast, often found scaling the heights of the Grouse Grind, savoring a cold beer on a sunny local patio, or immersing himself in the excitement of a Raptors game.

Tyson's professional journey is underpinned by a robust educational foundation, including his admission to the BC Bar in 2013, a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia, and a joint Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics from Simon Fraser University, with a focus on finance. His legal acumen and dedication to Indigenous legal affairs were recognized in 2023 when he was honored as a Lexpert Rising Star, marking him as a leading lawyer under 40 in his field.
