Steven Abramson

In his professional capacity, Steven dedicates his expertise to assisting clients through the complexities of insurance defense, focusing on a wide array of disputes. His specialization spans the defense of property issues, construction flaws, personal injury allegations, fire incidents, aviation-related claims, broad insurance disagreements, and claims of professional negligence. Additionally, he actively pursues claims for insurers related to fires, property damages, and product liabilities. Steven's advisory role extends to navigating the intricate dynamics of insurance coverage disputes for both insurers and insured parties.

Hailing from Richmond, B.C., Steven has since established his home in Vancouver alongside his wife, their two sons, and a lively puppy. Away from his professional obligations, he cherishes time spent skiing, engaging in ball games, and embarking on various adventures with his loved ones.

Steven's academic journey saw him obtaining both his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 2003 and his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 2000 from the University of British Columbia. His admission to the British Columbia bar in 2004 marked the commencement of his legal career.

In leadership roles, Steven has made significant contributions as a Director of the Camp Hatikvah Foundation, a past Co-Chair of the Harper Grey Articling Student Committee, and as a Mentor within the Harper Grey Mentoring Program. His commitment to the legal community is further reflected in his active membership in several subsections of the Canadian Bar Association's BC Branch, focusing on Construction Law and Insurance, as well as his involvement with The Law Society of British Columbia and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.

Steven's community engagement includes volunteering at the Access Pro Bono Courthouse Clinic, where he offers his legal expertise to those in need.

Steven's experience in defense work is comprehensive and diverse. He has successfully represented a chimney sweep in a high-stakes trial, defending against allegations of negligence that purportedly led to a house fire. His defense repertoire includes representing contractors accused of negligence and contract breaches in construction projects, as well as defending homeowners, business proprietors, and commercial property owners against bodily injury claims. Steven has also defended independent adjusters and mortgage brokers against errors and omissions claims related to the adjusting of insured losses and disputes following mortgage losses, respectively. His defense efforts extend to warranty claims under the Homeowners Protection Act and claims against insurers by mortgagees seeking payment under the Standard Mortgage Clause.
