Steven Lukas

Steven holds the position of Associate Counsel at Harper Grey, where he also leads the Business Law Group alongside a colleague. His approach to legal counsel is characterized by creativity and a dedication to crafting solutions tailored to his clients' unique needs. Steven's clientele spans a wide array of businesses, from nascent startups to well-established corporations, for whom he provides comprehensive legal guidance across various corporate matters. His expertise shines in the nuanced domain of mergers and acquisitions, where he adeptly handles everything from divestitures to negotiated purchases, as well as in forming joint ventures and strategic partnerships, especially in situations where corporate transactions face opposition.

Beyond his practice, Steven actively shares his knowledge through speaking engagements on topics such as venture finance, angel investing, and the intricacies of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. He also contributes as a guest lecturer for the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC’s course on buying and selling businesses. His leadership extends to roles such as the Director and Chair of New Ventures BC Society and leading the BC Water Polo Association.

Steven’s academic journey includes a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in 1984, followed by a Law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1987. He was admitted to the British Columbia bar in 1988, marking the start of his legal career.

His professional affiliations are extensive, including membership in the Canadian Bar Association's BC Branch, The Law Society of British Columbia, and the Vancouver Bar Association. Steven has also played significant roles in Harper Grey's mentoring program, contributed to LexisNexis® Practice Advisor on topics of corporate management, and demonstrated leadership within the BC Water Polo Association and the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC.
