Drawing on his rich experience in both the courtroom and mediation settings, Spencer has successfully represented clients at various levels of the Canadian legal system, including the BC Supreme Court, the Ontario Superior Court, and the Ontario Court of Appeal. His knack for negotiating has led to numerous favorable settlements during mediations, showcasing his strategic approach to litigation.

Before his tenure at Fasken, Spencer honed his legal skills at a respected civil litigation boutique in Toronto, post his articling period. His academic journey is marked by commendable achievements, including securing a place in the top 10 of his class at law school, which earned him the Osgoode Society Prize among other accolades. Spencer’s legal education was completed at the University of Ottawa, where he graduated Magna cum Laude with a JD in 2019, following a BA in Philosophy, Economics, and Environment from McGill University in 2011.

Spencer’s pre-law career in the financial services sector, where he provided bespoke financial advice over four years, has endowed him with a unique perspective that he leverages in his current practice. This experience, combined with his legal practice across Ontario and BC, enables him to offer strategic, personalized advice to his clients.

His commitment to the legal profession is further evidenced by his active participation in various legal organizations. Spencer is a member of The Advocates' Society, the Mental Wellness Task Force of the Canadian Bar Association - BC Branch, and the Vancouver Bar Association, where he serves as a board member.
