His educational odyssey began with a Bachelor of Arts from Shanxi University's Foreign Language Department in Taiyuan, China, in 1982. His pursuit of legal knowledge continued at the University of Political Science & Law in Beijing, where he earned a Diploma of Postgraduate Law in 1987. Not long after, in 1988, Anthony enhanced his legal acumen by obtaining a Certificate of Corporate Counsel from the Law Institute of Renmin University/Ministry of Justice, also in Beijing. His academic path then led him to Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where he secured a Bachelor of Law degree in 1993.
Anthony’s professional legal career initiated with an articling position at McCarthy Tetrault’s Vancouver Office in 1993. The following year, he was called to the Bar in British Columbia. His early legal endeavors were with the Law Firm of Devlin Jensen from 1994 to 1997, where he honed his expertise in immigration, corporate, litigation, and China-related practices. Transitioning into the corporate sector, Anthony joined McCarthy Tetrault's corporate department from late 1997 to the end of 1999, dedicating his efforts to legal matters pertaining to new immigrants from China and transactions related to China.
The year 2000 marked a significant milestone in Anthony's career as he established his own practice, Anthony Zhou & Company. His firm specialized in Corporate and Commercial Law, Litigation, Real Estate Law, Family Law, and Immigration issues, providing comprehensive legal assistance to Chinese immigrants, and facilitating investments between Chinese and Canadian investors in both China and North America. Anthony's prior experience with China National Non-ferrous Metals Corporation, a leading national company in China, enriched his expertise in cross-border transactions across Asia, the Middle East, and Canada.
In late 2011, Anthony Zhou transitioned to Lunny Atmore, where he continues to apply his extensive legal knowledge to commercial, family litigation, real estate transactions, and immigration matters.
