Eva Christopher

Eva embarked on her legal journey at the University of Alberta, where she obtained her LL.B. in 1979, following a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University in 1976. Her career took a significant turn when she joined Whitelaw Twining in 1990, after serving as a partner at Code Hunter (now Gowlings) in Calgary, Alberta, up until 1989. Her legal prowess was frequently showcased in the high courts of British Columbia and Alberta, where she represented clients with zeal and expertise.

With a career spanning over three and a half decades, Eva's expertise in insurance defence litigation is vast. She has imparted her knowledge through lectures and seminars, enriching the legal community with her insights. As she transitioned into the role of Director of Practice Management, Eva began steering the firm towards excellence in client service and internal compliance. She engages in regular discussions with associates and directors to fine-tune strategies and ensure the firm's operations align with client expectations and the firm’s standards.

Eva is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals. She invests time in mentoring senior associates, guiding them through the complexities of handling large cases, and focusing on their professional growth. Her contributions are aimed at shortening case cycle times and enhancing client satisfaction.

Outside the courtroom and office, Eva leads an active lifestyle. She finds joy in skiing, golfing, hiking, pilates, and exploring new destinations. Her pursuit of a balanced life is a testament to her dynamic personality.

Eva's legal acumen has not gone unrecognized. She has been honored with a Distinguished Rating by Martindale Hubbell Peer Review for 13 consecutive years, achieving a Very High Rating in the later years. Her professional affiliations are notable as well, including her admission to the Bars of British Columbia in 1990 and Alberta in 1980, along with her membership in the Canadian Bar Association’s Civil Litigation and Insurance Law Sections. Eva's illustrious career and dedication to the legal profession underscore her commitment to excellence and development, both within her firm and the broader legal community.
