Mark Colavecchia

Mark dedicates himself to the intricate fields of labor, employment, and human rights law, advocating for management across diverse industries like forestry, academia, and local government. His expertise extends to navigating complex issues such as dismissals, disciplinary actions, disputes over seniority, job competition grievances, contracting dilemmas, and layoff or recall conflicts. With a presence in various legal forums, Mark confidently represents his clients before the BC Labour Relations Board, arbitration panels, the Federal Court, and every court tier in British Columbia.

His approach is both thoughtful and pragmatic, fostering strong, lasting bonds with his clientele through solutions that prioritize human elements. Mark's proficiency and eloquence, combined with a deep understanding of labor relations, enable him to adeptly tackle challenges.

Prior to joining Harris, Mark honed his skills in the Supreme Court of British Columbia as a clerk and then furthered his experience in labor and employment law with a renowned national law firm in Vancouver.

Mark's professional excellence has not gone unnoticed. He was recognized as a listed lawyer in Labour and Employment by Best Lawyers in Canada for 2022 and received commendations in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for 2023 for his work in Labour Relations – Management and Workplace Human Rights (Employer).

Mark actively contributes to his field through membership in the Employment Law, Human Rights Law, and Labour Law sections of the Canadian Bar Association's BC branch, even serving as Co-Chair of the Labour Law section from 2013 to 2015.

In terms of qualifications, Mark was called to the Yukon bar in 2018 after being admitted to the British Columbia bar in 2008. His academic journey took him from a Bachelor of Commerce at Dalhousie University in 2000 to earning an LLB from the University of British Columbia in 2006, and a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2016, showcasing a solid foundation and continuous commitment to his specialization in law.
