This role was built on a solid foundation established during his previous 6 years as Vice-Chair at the Board, where he honed his skills in adjudication and decision-making.

Before his extensive service at the Labour Relations Board, Brent was a partner at a national law firm based in Vancouver. His legal practice there covered a broad spectrum, representing clients across various industries including mining, forestry, construction, and municipal government. Brent excelled in grievance arbitrations and applications before administrative tribunals and courts at all levels in British Columbia. His expertise also extended to providing strategic advice on collective bargaining and labor relations aspects of corporate structuring and commercial transactions.

Outside the courtroom and administrative hearings, Brent has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service, particularly in youth sports. Since 2008, he has dedicated himself to coaching youth basketball in Vancouver, a passion that led him to establish Raindogs Basketball in 2011. Under this initiative, Brent has coached numerous teams, contributing significantly to the development of young athletes in various club leagues and the public school system, including Lord Byng Secondary School and Queen Elizabeth Elementary School.
